11" x 21" Vintage Obi Pillow  

The obi is a long broad sash worn wrapped around the waist of a kimono.  There are many different types, the most formal and traditional being the Maru obi. Most popular during the Meiji (1868-1912) and Taisho (1912-1926) periods, their bulk and weight make them difficult to tie by oneself, and they are currently worn only by geishas and brides.

Removable Pillow Cover with Invisible Zipper - 100% silk heavy brocade of raspberry, emerald, gold, and ecru, with metallic coated yarns of bronze in a pattern of stylized flowers and geo patterns.  Obi from the Kyoto Prefecture in Japan.

Pillow Insert - 10% down/90% feather, cotton cover. Made in USA.

Reversible Pillow - Solid raspberry silk on back.  This was the original backing for the obi.
