The michiyuki is traditionally worn on top of a kimono. It literally translates to mean "while on the road". It is typlically longer and narrower in fit than a haori. The main design difference is that it has a square neckline and an overlaping front panel that has snaps underneath fabric covered buttons. It makes a great jacket or dress to complement western clothing, and looks great belted. It is a design that was created in Japan specifically for women in the 20th century.
This silk jacquard fabric has a basketweave pattern that is complemented with hues of gold and browns. We love the richness of these color tones.
This vintage silk michiyuki was in such great condition we decided not to take it apart and upcycle it in to a new garment, but to preserve it as is. It has been cleaned and is ready to be worn and styled by you.
