18" x 18" Vintage Obi Pillow  

The obi is a long broad sash worn wrapped around the waist of a kimono.  There are many different types, the most formal and traditional being the Maru obi. Most popular during the Meiji (1868-1912) and Taisho (1912-1926) periods, their bulk and weight make them difficult to tie by oneself, and they are currently worn only by geishas and brides.

Removable Pillow Cover with Invisible Zipper - 100% silk, exquisite brocade in orange, white, indigo, and purple with a bronze pattern of butterflies, flowers, and swirls. Bronze silk from a vintage kimono is pieced in the center.  This rare vintage obi is from Kyoto Prefecture in Japan. Design layout may vary slightly from pillow to pillow.
