12" x 12" Vintage Obi Pillow

The obi is a long broad sash worn wrapped around the waist of a kimono.  There are many different types, the most formal and traditional being the Maru obi. Most popular during the Meiji (1868-1912) and Taisho (1912-1926) periods, their bulk and weight make them difficult to tie by oneself, and they are currently worn only by geishas and brides.

These amazing textiles are too beautiful to be stored away.  Surround yourself with our elegant pillows and enjoy incredible pieces of art in your home everyday.

Removable Pillow Cover with Invisible Zipper - 100% silk brocade with metallic coated yarns, from a vintage obi. This is an unusual geometric design that evokes a mod look from the 1960's art scene. It reflects the influences of western culture on traditional clothing.  This obi fabric is from Kyoto Prefecture in Japan.

Pillow Insert - 10% down/90% feather, cotton cover. Made in USA.

Reversible Pillow - solid obi fabric on reverse side

Care - Dry Clean Only

Designed, Cut and Sewn in USA.

Returns - if you need to make a return contact us within 10 days for a RMA#.

The beauty of the obi really shines in person and makes this pillow a centerpiece. A truly amazing textile and beautifully crafted pillow.
