Traditional mending is sustainable and can prolong the life of a garment or home decor. That is one of the practical reasons that our ancestors used it. It can also make garments into unique and beautiful items that become treasured designs which show creative expression. Learn to make your own statement piece with our mending kits and revive this old practice as a part of the lifecycle of your favorite pieces. Sashiko was originally used for mending holes and tears or reinforcing fabric with thread. Patchworking behind or over a hole can be used in conjunction with Sashiko as a decorative stitch to make your favorite jeans, jacket, or shirt unique. Your own creativity comes into play here. A mending project can be a small patch with some minimal stitching or a larger project that becomes a statement piece. You can start with minor mending and wear your design as each stage is complete. Sashiko Mending Kit - Indigo

I received the Indigo Sashiko mending kit in the mail last week and it is a present to myself just opening up the kit! All of the items I need for this craft comes in a beautiful natural linen draw-string bag and the whole thing is put together with such thoughtfulness. I was delighted to see a little hand-bound booklet included that has not only photo images to guide me through a project but also references and resources if I want to do any further exploration or research on the topic of Sashiko. I think my favorite delight was the heart shaped beeswax that was included. It is wrapped in a little square of paper and tied with a twine. When you open it up, you get a light waft of honey and see the gorgeous little amber heart of beeswax. I bought this one for myself and having experienced how special this is, I want to get some orders in for holiday presents right now. What a joy this is! I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a craft to get into that is ultimately useful and beautiful at the same time. This kit has everything that you need to get started. I love it!
