12" x 12" Vintage Obi Pillow

The obi is a long broad sash worn wrapped around the waist of a kimono.  There are many different types, the most formal and traditional being the Maru obi. Most popular during the Meiji (1868-1912) and Taisho (1912-1926) periods, their bulk and weight make them difficult to tie by oneself, and they are currently worn only by geishas and brides.

These amazing textiles are too beautiful to be stored away.  Surround yourself with our elegant pillows and enjoy incredible pieces of art in your home everyday.

Removable Pillow Cover with Invisible Zipper - 100% silk, exquisite brocade and embroidery of spider chrythansmums on a soft jade ground. This is a very special piece we found, and you can see why we made it the showcase for this group. The rare vintage obi is from Kyoto Prefecture in Japan. Floral design layout may vary slightly from pillow to pillow.

Pillow Insert - 10% down/90% feather, cotton cover. Made in USA.

Reversible Pillow - yarn-dye plaid on back side with vibrant shades of orange, gold and jade. Note - plaid design placement may vary.

Care - Dry Clean Only

Designed, Cut and Sewn in USA.
